So one of the people in my telemark class is an architect. So I talked to her on the lifts about what it is like to be one. Here are my notes so far:
If you have your own practice, it is your entire life.
Kind of like software development in that you have to talk with clients to figure out exactly what they want, then give them something, then redo it because it isn't what they really wanted.
Different projects going on in different stages at any one time.
Lots of phone conversations with contractors, drafters, etc.
very computerized these days -AutoCAD, PhotoShop, etc.
