Sat Jan 29 2005 20:54 MST #I took off Friday and skiied at Santa Fe. The area got fifteen inches of snow in 24 hours, so it was a great day to go. Everyone I talked to on the lifts was from around the area, and many of them seemed to have night jobs at restaurants in Santa Fe, thus enabling the day time ski bum lifestyle.
My legs got super tired super fast. The snow was pretty heavy and I often would faceplant after skiing into some drift, which abrupty slows you down. I also explored some harder terrain and baby moguls, which really wear you out quickly.
After a long leisurely lunch in the car in the parking lot, I went back for one more run. My legs were so dead that I called it a day and drove down to ten thousand waves. Yes life is so hard, when you have to take a day off to go skiing and then soak in the hot tub and bake in a sauna. After an hour and half of relaxing in the japanese/southwestern spa, I finished off the day with a trip to Trader Joe's. I needed something to eat for dinner after all that hard work.
Today Nathan wanted to ski, but I actually opted out - probably a first for me. I walked around Santa Fe, looking for two story adobe homes with pitched roofs, taking pictures, while Nathan tore up the mountain. We met in the afternoon, and were walking back to the car when I mentioned my photographs. Nathan asked "So you bought another memory card?", because of course, we had lost the card earlier that week. Turns out I hadn't really been taking pictures at all. Hrrrmm...
So a trip to Target for a new card for the camera. After which we drove around in the sleet/hail/rain/snow stuff falling down taking some more pictures. and then back home, to where the kitties are locked up, as a precaution against our neighbor taking them with her cause she is moving out this weekend.
The cats are going crazy inside - sure the place is a little small, but do they have to meow CONSTANTLY? Well, after a few hours, they have quieted down. But really. They seem to take meowing shifts, to ensure a constant meow roar.
