sounds

So I am suffering from what I will term "noise sensitivity" the last few days. On Saturday, Nathan and I were driving around, and at one point in the car, I asked, "Is that your watch I am hearing?" I could hear the tick, tock of his watch - true his hand was the one in the center of the car. But Nathan couldn't hear it. As an experiment, he put his watch on his other hand, far away from me. After a little while I could hear it again. He still couldn't hear it.

This morning the clatter of my cubicle neighbors typing and snacking on crunchy foods was driving me crazy. I'm not sure why this happens sometimes. Usually I think it means I need caffeine, which may well be true since I haven't had an for a week or two. A quick google suggest magnesium might be to blame, but since I've eaten a ton of magnesium rich pinto beans this weekend, that probably is not the problem.

Too bad I don't use this superpower to my enjoyment. Although I am listening to Elliott Smith through my headphones to control the sounds that I hear. Maybe I am hearing instruments I've never noticed before!
